(the following is an excerpt from an interview I conducted
with myself)
Who are you and why should I care?
I am Bryan Shaffer and you shouldn't care at all unless you require
some photography or graphic design. If either of those are something
you need, then you should definitely contact me. My passion is designing
clean, simple graphics for use in logos, corporate identities and
websites. I'm always looking for a fulltime career in this field
and I am extremely motivated to get back in the corporate game.
I've made a living for a couple of years on freelance design work
and other jobs (bartending, working at a camera shop, et cetera),
but what I really want is to do great design work for a company
that will truly appreciate it.
Why graphic design and why not continue to freelance?
I love creating visuals; taking the needs and ideas of your client
and making it a reality for them. I also love working with other
talented and passionate individuals to create art and design. It’s
more stimulating and productive than working alone in a bubble,
and that’s why I’m looking for a fulltime gig. I’m
starting to talk to the damn cat. Seriously.
Where did you recieve your education?
I attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania from 1996 until I
graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic
Arts.
Ok, so what do you know?
I have an acute understanding of composition and font selection.
I combine those in programs like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and
InDesign, as well as Dreamweaver. I’m well versed in HTML
coding and CSS as well.
Can you build me a Web page for my business? For free?
Yes and no.
Wow, I'm sold. Are you willing to relocate?
I am willing to relocate. I'll move to Senegal if the right job
is waiting.
Great! When can you start?
Yesterday. Honestly, two weeks from the date of hire sounds about
right. |
